Welcome to my blog for the book: Pearls for His Girls!
My name is Janice Utterback – or Mom – or Nana – or even Madre 🙂 Depending on how you know me. Since I’ve been around a while, I have quite a few experiences that help define my activities as well as how my book came about and the contents within. I hope you will find this book provides helpful tips for parenting children of all ages and encouragement for their mothers!
In my 29+ years, some of my roles have been that of teacher and at times a home school mom, missionary, mother-of-four daughters, speaker and now, Indie Author. Each of those roles required special training and education to do the job as authorities required, including a Masters’ in Special Education. One job that I felt I needed more training to try to accomplish was that of mother. Years of playing dolls and babysitting still did not train me adequately to be the kind of mom I longed to be. Much prayer along with years of experiences, observations and research led me to some of the best ideas in this journey of parenting.
I loved being a mom, but once that stage of parenting children was complete, I felt good about my successes and forgiven over my shortcomings – time to relax! Then came one of my favorite roles ever – that of Nana! How I cherish loving on those babies as they trust me to love unconditionally! It was for these sweet babies and those yet to come that motivated me to enter this journey of becoming a self-published author. It was those babies that inspired me to try to put into book form the ideas that worked for me in order to encourage their mothers. But, my heart seems to often find the place of mother or mentor to many cherished daughters of the the King that are not in my biological family, thus, I felt I had to take a more public role than just publishing for my own family……and from there emerged Pearls for His Girls.
I hope to encourage all of “His Girls;” especially those “mommies in the trenches”, and share with them practical, tried and true suggestions on raising children so that those mothers can also enjoy their children at each and every stage.
