So fun to hear stories from Debbie’s recent mission trip to Honduras – loving orphans and their care-takers. The Bible tells us that taking care of orphans and widows is true religion.
I love that my girls find ways locally as well as internationally to serve others and their God. They are strong and independent as well as committed to their families and community, and not afraid to be vulnerable. I’m so proud of them!
God is the only reason in today’s world that our wiggly, giggly little children grow up and actually think of others rather than only themselves. They actually see the needs around them and have the courage to do something about it. Your loving, intentional parenting (along with God’s empowering) makes that difference. Don’t be afraid to model ‘love for others’ for your children and thus embolden them to do the same.
Some of my best memories with my children come from mission trips we’ve taken together! From South Texas to the Amazon and Roma villages and digging water wells – each done with a daughter on board! Consider finding a mission trip appropriate for the age of your children to join as a family. What a journey of joy you can help your children discover!
Heading to an eyeglass mission trip soon! Taking another daughter with me. 🙂 Excited that once again, Bob and I share this adventure together! Taking family to the country that made me who I am! If you want to read more stories about mission trips follow this link.
