Mamas, every time that you teach your child to obey, you are preparing your child to take One Giant Leap in a life changing journey. You teach your children to obey the little things, and step-by-step, they grow in size and understanding and in obedience. They learn to obey their safe, healthy authorities and the Word of God. Those little steps lead to a lifetime of obedience – a habit of obedience. One day, those little steps appear to become giant leaps.

One day almost thirty-eight years ago, I took one more step in obedience and found myself on the mission field in Paraguay. That step and those little steps that led up to that one, must have put me in a place of God’s pleasure. I have never grown so much in my life – in character and understanding – as I did in that place and in that period of time. Because of that growth and life-changing time, I will always love that country.

May each mom that reads this small tip, grab hold of the dream of teaching your child to obey in the small steps so they too will have the opportunity to find themselves in a place of obedience that as an adult they too will be able to look back and say that simple obedience led them to a place where they could grow more than they ever dreamed possible.
