What can I say today to encourage you? That’s my question right now. It’s been a tough few weeks for me returning to “normal” activities with bronchitis and exhaustion as well as the start up for the ministry activity I love while winding down from the mountain top experience of an amazing mission trip…….sometimes being positive can be a challenge. So, in the midst of normal challenges in life, I’d like to say: Remember His faithfulness. The verse that has…..
Just a quick thought that helped me so much today. It comes from a really old Bible translation that means to just let go of displeasure. Put with the verse that tells us to put aside every weight that hinders, it seems quite appropriate for today for me.
So fun to hear stories from Debbie’s recent mission trip to Honduras – loving orphans and their care-takers. The Bible tells us that taking care of orphans and widows is true religion. I love that my girls find ways locally as well as internationally to serve others and their God. They are strong and independent as well as committed to their families and community, and not afraid to be vulnerable. I’m so proud of them!
Mamas, every time that you teach your child to obey, you are preparing your child to take One Giant Leap in a life changing journey. You teach your children to obey the little things, and step-by-step, they grow in size and understanding and in obedience. They learn to obey their safe, healthy authorities and the Word of God. Those little steps lead to a lifetime of obedience – a habit of obedience. One day, those little steps appear to become…..
My word to you, my friend, is hang on – when you are exhausted and dragging, hang on. The day will come that you can actually eat a hot meal or finish a cup of coffee before it cools off (without microwaving it three times). Or for you, with teens, the day will come when you are not monitoring curfews and social media accounts and praying every time they drive away. I’m not going to tell you to enjoy these…..

There are so many character building moments in a summer activity that we can actually grow our kids greatly while having fun.

We feel like we are swimming upstream and against the current. Have you ever seen the videos of salmons swimming upstream against all odds trying to reach their goal? If the goal is worth reaching, it is…..

Welcome to my blog for the book: Pearls for His Girls! My name is Janice Utterback – or Mom – or Nana – or even Madre 🙂 Depending on how you know me. Since I’ve been around a while, I have quite a few experiences that help define my activities as well as how my book came about and the contents within. When babies are little, it’s fun to hear those first few words ever spoken. I know of one mother who was sad that her son’s first words were “no, no”. I think, maybe she was a consistent disciplinarian; even those words are darling when spoken by a little one. Some of my babies’ first words (after “mama” and “dada”) were “da-du” (thank you).
